I will support and work with council members, the school system and law enforcement to implement policies and other programs to mitigate any possibility of a violent act on our schools or communities.

Now more than ever we need to be vigilant toward the potential of drugs, gun violence, and safety and security of our schools. We have an opioid crisis in our community and the death toll is rising each day. We must address it immediately and effectively. I will utilize my knowledge and experience as a physician to work with our community, local physicians, health department and police to put policies and programs together to tackle drug addiction and abuse.

In addition, we must seriously address Mental Health issues and must understand and intervene at an early stage to help our most vulnerable citizens and families in their efforts towards the necessary treatment. With a lack of mental health providers in the area, we need to establish policies and work with families to provide the necessary resources and attention towards this issue.

The needs of our Senior Citizens range from those who are active and are seeking more opportunities for activities, to those who are more vulnerable and want to age in place. I will work with other members and community at large to establish adequate affordable housing, assisted living, programs to engage our aging community, incentives, benefits and respite for caregivers of seniors and the disabled.

I am also concerned and passionate about:

• Ending the Opioid Crisis; Get naloxone (Narcan) into the hands of those that need it and work with healthcare providers to find alternatives to treatment.
• Support for our local Police, Fire Fighters; by providing Police and Fire Fighters the tools and resources needed to keep our communities safe.
• Screening and Educational Interventions for Alzheimer’s disease.
• Healthcare Access for All; In Howard County no one should be without quality healthcare services.

• Water quality and run off; Patuxent River Conservation
• Preservation of Open Space and Park Revitalization
