I am excited to announce that I’ve filed my candidacy for the County Council - District 4 as a Democrat.
I am a long-time resident of District 4. Over the past 35 years I have lived in Columbia, Fulton, and Clarksville. I continue to be strong supporter of the values we enjoy in Howard County. I have supported the Democratic party in a multitude of ways and continue to do so.
I am proud to call Howard County, the best county in the nation, my home, but, we still have issues to improve upon as a community. Our county has progressed over the years, but we can all agree that there is more to be done now and in the future.
Issues such as healthcare, including addiction and mental health, aging, transportation, overcrowded schools, and smart economic and business growth, need to be adequately addressed while keeping our focus on the day-to-day needs of our citizens. We also need to continue our focus on diversity, which is our strength as a county and a bridge for bringing us all together as a community.
My campaign is about Excellence in Service for Howard County citizens.
I have served the county as a Board of Education member for nearly 10 years. My experience in governance while on the board and in other executive roles, will make for a smoother transition for the new County Council. My experience as a physician will help our county as we address the issues of addiction, aging, and mental health.
My website will be updated shortly. I am looking forward to hearing from you and sharing our ideas for the future.
Let’s continue to strive for excellence in Howard County.
Janet Siddiqui, M.D.
